Kazakhstan carrier Air Astana is selling flights from the UK to Tashkent in Uzbekistan for the first time.
The three-times-a-week service will operate from Heathrow via the airline’s hub in Astana, starting on March 29.
At the same time, the airline will also offer flights to Tashkent, via Astana, from Frankfurt and Paris.
It said timings had been optimised for ‘seamless and convenient’ tranfers through its newly completed airport terminal.
President marketing and sales Richard Ledger said: “We are delighted to be able to offer this twice weekly service to Tashkent from three of our European departure airports on what we believe will be a highly popular route.
“Interest in the Silk Road destinations continues to grow and the addition of Tashkent offers passengers the perfect opportunity to combine a visit to Kazakhstan with Uzbekistan to further explore the region’s fascinating history.”
