AirAsia Group plans to regain full ownership of its customer loyalty program BIG Rewards. It will acquire the remaining 20% stake it doesn’t own in BigLife for MYR103 million ($25 million) from Aimia Holdings UK in a stock swap deal.
AirAsia’s wholly-owned subsidiary AirAsia Digital Sdn Bhd owns 80% of BigLife. By taking back full control of BigLife, AirAsia expects to streamline decision making and increase efficiency in the business, it says. It will also ‘drive greater synergies with the group, which would further increase the value of its digital assets.’
AirAsia is also in the process of upgrading its Navitaire New Skies reservation system.
