El Al Israel Airlines has announced the schedule and fares for its proposed trial of nonstop flights to Australia.
The airline will operate three trial flights between April and May 2020 from Tel Aviv to Melbourne.
Flight time is about 18 hours which dwarfs its current longest flight at 15 hours to Los Angeles.
Outbound flights are scheduled for April 2, April 23, and May 14, 2020.
Fares are from $1,199 including airport taxes and checked luggage.
Flights will be operated by three-class Boeing Dreamliner 787 aircraft.
Like Qantas’ ultra-long haul ‘Project Sunrise’ trial flights to New York and London from Australia, ElAl will use the trial to analyse comfort levels for passengers and crew on such a long journey and the financial feasibility of making the service a permanent one.
