Visit Glenwood Springs has lauded plans to bring luxury rail journeys by Rocky Mountaineer to Colorado.
The historic hot springs town will be an overnight stop on Rocky Mountaineer’s new US itinerary from Denver, Colorado to Moab, Utah.
The Rockies to the Red Rocks route is a two-day rail journey which will operate in 2021.
Rocky Mountaineer launches the route with a preview season of 40 departures over 10 weeks from 15 August to 23 October, 2021.
It is marks a change of scenery for Rocky Mountaineer which will continue to operate scenic routes between Vancouver and the Canadian Rockies next year.
It also gives Americans the opportunity to sample the Rocky Mountaineer experience.
The company is collaborating with local tourism organizations, hotels and tour operators to curate custom packages for tours, activities, and stays in Glenwood Springs, as well as Denver and Moab.
“Rocky Mountaineer will bring a new luxury train tour to explore the historic rail route between Denver and Moab. Now we are opening our newest train experience in the region where American train travel history began,” said Peter Armstrong, founder of Rocky Mountaineer.
The two-day journey, including a one-night hotel stay in Glenwood Springs, starts from $1,250 plus tax per person.
“We have anxiously awaited the public announcement of the Rockies to the Red Rocks route. This is such happy news for our community and those along the entire route, as we have all been prudently working to reboot travel during a very challenging year,” said Visit Glenwood Springs Director of Tourism Promotion, Lisa Langer.
Customers can reserve a place on a 2021 departure with a refundable deposit of only $25 through a travel advisor or direct with Rocky Mountaineer.
