On May 29th the Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Hazel Laws announced that the first round of COVID-19 cases has been successfully contained. The last recovery case on Nevis was May 5th and for the Federation it was May 18th. Since that time, there have been no reported cases of the Covid-19 virus.
On June 8th, the Emergency Operations Center conducted a briefing to inform the public of the status of COVID-19 in Nevis. The comprehensive package of control measures is still in place in order to protect all residents and move the island closer to reopening.
There is still a mandatory requirement of wearing a mask, in public and all places of business, along with physical distancing. Basic procedures and health precautions emphasize frequent handwashing with soap and water, or an alcohol-based hand sanitizer along with practicing good coughing/sneezing etiquette.
