Some of the biggest names in the India online hospitality and travel sector have joined forces to form a new trade association.
The Confederation of Hospitality, Technology and Tourism Industry [CHATT] has been created by a group of founding members including Airbnb, EaseMyTrip, Oyo and Yatra.
CHATT aims to promote domestic travel in India, help escalate digital transformation across the industry, and run educational training programmes.
It will also serve as an advocacy group to lobby for the industry with government and regulatory bodies.
“Throughout the pandemic, CHATT founding members have supported the government’s vision to revive the economy. With this foundation, we aim to safeguard the interests of small hotel, home and travel partners and become their voice,” CHATT said in a statement.
Members will get access to educational resources and be able to attend business and industry events.
“Technology is at the forefront of many initiatives at the Ministry of Tourism and we look forward to closely working with CHATT to strengthen the sector,” said India’s Tourism Secretary, Arvind Singh.
