The New “Scandinavian Six” Itinerary Covers Four Countries with Six Mini Vacations
A new travel concept has been launched allowing guests to travel across Scandinavia and experience the best of the region in six mini-holidays. The coordinated Scandinavia Six vacation experience includes six separate adventures through four countries and recognizes travelers’ desires for shorter, more frequent vacations. Over the course of the year, travelers will immerse themselves in everything Scandinavia with experiences ranging from romantic log cabin stays and Northern Lights and Midnight Sun adventures to a history-focused city break.
The new concept was developed by travel experts at Off the Map Travel who recognized a desire for visitors to experience more of the region at different times of the year but were struggled to schedule an extended holiday due to work or other commitments.
“Included in this new holiday concept are six separate trips to Scandinavia, each lasting three nights over a long weekend,” says Jonathan Cooper, Arctic travel expert and founder of Off the Map Travel. “Although the overall plan can be adapted for each guest, the Scandinavian Six adventure is designed to offer accommodations and activities to showcase Scandinavia at its best across its varied seasons.”
Ideal for those with busy schedules, the new itinerary can be started at any point in the year.
SAMPLE SIX-TRIP ITINERARY:
An ideal starting point is a romantic Valentine’s Day weekend in Alesund, Norway where luxury and romance meet up in a suite stay at Hotel Storfjord and include a private fjord cruise, spa treatments for two, and an under-the-stars dip in the outdoor Jacuzzi.
In April, when the light is returning to the Arctic but there is still a thick blanket of snow, guests will embark on a long weekend to Kiruna and Abisko, Sweden filled with classic Arctic activities including snowmobiling, ice fishing, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing or heli-skiing, and an adventurous outdoor dinner while hunting for the Northern Lights.
In June, it’s time to head further north to Svalbard, Norway to experience Scandinavia’s 24 hours of sunlight and the Midnight Sun. This weekend will be filled with hiking, boat trips and wildlife – with a goal of seeing both walruses and polar bears.
The fourth installment in September sees a journey to Rovaniemi, Finland for autumn colors and the start of the Aurora season. Guests will sleep in a glass-roofed igloo to experience the Northern Lights firsthand along with an expert photography tour where they learn how to capture the Aurora’s elusive, changing colors. There’s also the opportunity to enjoy some early Christmas spirit while visiting the home of Santa Claus on the Arctic Circle.
A city break in Copenhagen, Denmark in October provides a historical dimension to the adventure with a walking tour and visit to the city’s many historic landmarks plus a private boat trip on the canals.
As a stylish finale to the year of everything Scandinavia, Off the Map Travel invites guests to join them for not one, but two New Year’s celebrations, first in Finland before crossing the border for a second celebration an hour later in Sweden. Add to this dogsledding, a Northern Lights snowshoeing adventure, and a traditional New Year’s celebration with food and fireworks and the year will finish with a bang.
“This is a holiday that brings the best of the region together, from city to remote wilderness, from health and well-being to adventure and adrenaline – all with the chance to experience the Northern Lights in some of the best destinations in the world,” adds Cooper. “Scandinavia is a destination to explore with so much to see during each changing season, and this new ‘staggered vacation’ concept fits the lifestyles of today’s busy traveler.”
As with any itinerary from Off the Map Travel, every adventure can be tailor-made to fit the wishes and requirements of any guest. The sample Scandinavian Six itinerary outlined above includes six separate long-weekend mini-holidays of four days and three nights spread across the year, and is priced starting from $12,999 USD per person (based on the time of this writing) not including flights. In total, this includes 18 nights’ accommodations on a B&B basis, transfers, some meals, and a wide range of activities in all locations with some on a private basis.
