Nicaragua Prepares to Celebrate Easter
Nicaragua, like most of Latin America, will be celebrating Holy Week (“Semana Santa”) from March 26 – April 1 this year. “Semana Santa” honors the traditions of Easter with processions, celebrations, music and food.
Nicaragua expects an influx of at least 104,000 tourists during the Easter holiday period. The Nicaraguan Tourism Board (INTUR) estimates an increase of 10 per cent, compared to the same period last year.
Hotel La Recoleccion is the newest hospitality addition to the Nicaraguan city of Leon. With a distinctly colonial architecture and modern interior design, the hotel features 50 rooms, dining service, a gym, wifi and a business center.
Construction of the new Surf Ranch Hotel & Resort – Popoyo started in early March. The $20 million luxury resort will be located in Popoyo, on the beautiful Emerald Coast of Nicaragua. Surf Ranch Popoyo is a luxury resort spread over 25 acres of ocean view property, a few-minute walk from some of the best waves in the world. The resort is undergoing construction and will consist of ocean view condos, apartments and houses, with capacity for 312 guests. The resort will also feature world class restaurants, 2 large swimming pools with waterslides, a swim up bar, the largest skateboard park in Central America, along with a rock climbing wall, tennis court, cross fit gym, spa, conference room, casino, stores and a 9-hole golf course.
