Ride hailing giant Grab is on the expansion trail again.
It is once more venturing well beyond its core Southeast Asia market.
Grab aims to start marketing services in Pakistan next year.
It will be operated through regional e-hailing firm Careem.
It is part of Grab’s commercial tie-up with mobility marketplace Splyt that enables ride hailing companies to market services in new markets via a local partner.
Grab just announced a similar expansion via Splyt across the Middle East with Careem and in Japan using local operator JapanTaxi.
Careem was acquired by Uber earlier this year for more than $3 billion.
Grab’s initial market entry in Pakistan will cover more than a dozen cities including Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad.
Current Grab users will be able to pay for Grab rides using the GrabPay e-wallet and earn GrabRewards points.
