Spirit Airlines halts all New York area flights
Budget carrier Spirit Airlines is suspending all flights to the New York area after tri-state travel restrictions were ramped up.
It is halting service to New York, New Jersey and Connecticut until at least May 4.
It affects flights to New York’s LaGuardia Airport, Newark Liberty, Niagara Falls and Plattsburgh International Airports, NY, and Bradley International at Hartford, CT.
Spirit took these measures in response to the CDC’s travel advisory against non-essential travel in the three states to curb the spread ofcovid-19.
“Guests booked on these flights will receive emails notifying them of the change and explaining their options,” the airline said.
“Taking care of our guests and team members continues to be our number one priority.”
New York state has recorded nearly 2,000 coronavirus deaths including more than 1,300 in the five boroughs.
