After ramping up services out of Florida, budget carrier Spirit Airlines is now turning to cities like Detroit for the next phase of its recovery.
It announced 14 nonstop flights out of Detroit Metro Airport will resume over the next month.
It includes Fort Lauderdale, Los Angeles and Myrtle Beach which have already restarted after being suspended due to the Covid-19 downturn.
Later this month Fort Myers and Cancun flights will restart although the latter is dependent on Mexico opening its borders.
During July Spirit said it will reinstate flights out of Detroit to Austin, Boston, Baltimore-Washington, Denver, Houston, New Orleans, Oakland, Philadelphia and San Diego.
Spirit’s return comes days after Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced she is lifting Michigan’s stay-at-home orders and gradually allowing businesses to reopen.
Spirit is also ramping up flights in Las Vegas and Dallas with 13 flights restarting at Dallas Fort Worth in the coming weeks.
It includes international services to Cancun and Los Cabos.
By July the airline expects to operate 39 flights a day out of Las Vegas McCarron Airport.
