The long awaited opening of Universal Studios Japan’s new Nintendo themed attraction will go ahead on 4 February, 2021.
The $580 million Super Nintendo World was initially due to open in the summer but that was postponed due to the pandemic.
There is still the possibility of the opening being delayed further as Osaka is now experiencing high rates of Covid infections.
Super Nintendo World is based on Nintendo’s most popular games with various rides, activities and shopping.
It includes a Mario Kart ride and Yoshi’s Adventure.
“Universal Creative has partnered with Nintendo to bring a real-life racing adventure to Universal Studios Japan with Mario Kart. Guests will put on their headset, which takes them through the Mario Kart universe to experience never-ending thrills,” said Thomas Geraghty Senior Director of Innovation.
Park guests can opt for a ‘power up band’ to go more interactive and complete various activities to collect virtual coins.
