TUI has added holidays to Cuba and Gambia, two of Thomas Cook’s most popular long-haul destinations, for next year.
Both destinations went on sale today.
The operator will be the only one in the UK to offer direct flights to the Cuban beach destination of Varadero, to where it will offer 16,000 seats from Manchester next summer. TUI is featuring three hotels in the resort, and it is also offering twin centres with the capital, Havana.
It will offer 40,000 seats to Banjul in the Gambia next winter, with the first flights departing on November 1, 2020. There will be a twice weekly service from Gatwick plus weekly flights from both Birmingham and Manchester.
TUI recently announced it was increasing its capacity from the UK by one million passengers next year to plug the gap created by the collapse of close rival Thomas Cook.
Mark Hall, director of product & destination experience TUI UK & Ireland said: “Following keen customer interest in both Cuba and The Gambia, we are thrilled to be adding holidays and direct flights to these two places in our incredibly exciting 2020 programme.
“There is now even more choice of trips, hotels and frequent routes, with flight only and twin centre options also available. These areas were extremely popular previously with Thomas Cook customers and we are adding this capacity to ensure the destinations can still be enjoyed by British holidaymakers.”
TUI is featuring eight hotels in Gambia, in beach resorts including Kotu and Kololi.
