Tour operator TUI will subsidise the cost of Covid tests for customers booking package holidays.
It will offer tests to customers starting from £20 up to £90, which depends on the destination and type of service.
TUI will offer £20 rapid antigen or PCR test within two days of arrival back into the UK, which is good for ‘green list’ destinations.
For an additional £40, TUI will offer PCR test to be taken before leaving the UK.
The holiday firm has more expensive testing packages for destinations that will likely be on the amber list.
It comes as the government is set to announce which countries and islands will be designated low risk ‘green.’
TUI is partnering with test kit supplier Chromonics.
Customers can order test kits once they have made a booking, starting from 10 May.
TUI said it will also include free Covid insurance cover on all holidays.
The UK is adopting a traffic light system of red, amber and green with the latter avoiding self-isolating or quarantine on arrival back home.
Every traveller will need to take at least one PCR test on returning to the UK, under the government’s current plans.
“It is a fantastic value for consumers – it’s the cheapest test package out there,” said Rory Boland, travel editor at Which?
However, he says these prices should be available to all.
“Really, you need to have cheaper tests available to all consumers, not just if they book through a big holiday company.”
