US based Victoria Cruise Lines has restarted sailing on China’s Yangtze River.
It resumed this week with its ‘Three Gorges Highlights’ program on the Victoria Katarina ship, which is the first voyage since the global Covid-19 pandemic began.
Due to international travel restrictions it is marketing to Chinese nationals and China-based expats only.
“We are using this opportunity to fine-tune our pandemic policies and procedures prior to the anticipated return of international visitors,” said PR manager, Larry Greenman.
It is offering weekly departures from Chongqing to Yichang, and plans to add the Victoria Anna and Victoria Jenna vessels next month.
Health and safety protocols are in place onboard which restricts capacity to 50% and hospital grade particle filtration units in air conditioning have been installed.
Crew are receiving temperature checks twice a day and customer facing crew are required to wear masks.
Passengers’ temperature is checked on embarkation and they are required to fill out a health form.
Most areas are disinfected several times a day including cabins, public areas, and kitchens.
